  • Project Status
    • “ndsd” still crashing about once a week or so; finally have the Novell “5 incident’ contract in place – will create an “incident” this week (yes, this is a repeat L).
    • Switched the LDAP filtering of departmental helpdesk pages from using the L3L4 codes (which are now static) to PS department number pages.
    • Added “advanced” search function under departmental Helpdesk (thanks to Jeanne Pecha of CHS for asking J).  Also added an “Add Guest FSUID” button for dept HD.   Now display L3L4 & PS deptno information on dept HD page.
    • Created some HRMS-like tables (FSDBA.PS_EMPLOYEE and FSDBA.PS_TENURE) for those who want HRMS-style HR data (valid until 1/2006).  Note that eDir is still using the “native” PSHR nightly flat file feed.  The new PS_EMPLOYEE table mimics the old FSHRS.EMPLOYEE table (which has gone dormant).
    • New attributes & their stories: personalTitle (Person object class), employeeType (Person)
    • Modified “load-mods” script to handle PSHR EMPLID (aka HRMSIDs) properly using PSHR view of the data.
    • College of Human Sciences eDir update: finalizing “create disabled Win accounts on CHS Win domain controller with attributes populated” script; will give a talk at Dave Hearn’s next MS SysAdmin Practices Seminar (2/8/05, 1PM, CSIT Seminar Room)
    • Have made some progress with manipulating users on the BlueSocket boxes; a meeting will be set soon to plan with Sherry & Clint what can be done with eDir and the BlueSocket boxes.
    • BusObj FSUID/group authentication needs update?
    • Project underway in IS to move FSUID pages under Bb as a native module (or set of modules).
    • Project underway to get a separate iPlanet instance created (waiting for new server to arrive) that will be dedicated to FSUID public search function (filtered feed of only active employees and students and only their directory information attributes).
    • Discussion of catching FSUID password aging in CAS (concern about “quiet failures” for non-CAS’d apps).
    • Submitted eDir/FSUID “experiences” presentation for the June EDUCAUSE conference.
  • Action Items
    1. Get LDAP authentication working under AIX 5.2 (either natively using secldapclntd or using open source packages) – thanks to UCS for providing access to aim1.acns.fsu.edu for AIX testing.  Have made some progress on this; need to continue moving forward.  Need a sysadmin volunteer to pick this up.
    2. Get LDAP authentication & attribute updating working with UCS-configured BlueSocket box (thanks to UCS for providing the box!).  Have made some progress on this; need to continue moving forward.  Basic functions written; waiting for UCS to provide a design document.
    3. Continuing to provide CARS user functions in FSUID –Waiting on a “CARS API” via an SSH tunnel and Oracle PL/SQL calls for CARS account management.
    4.  [Group – longer term] Continue working SSN ŕ FSNSN replacement discussions with campus.  Pushing in IS out to customers to start using FSUSN which is now populated in USER_ACCOUNT.  Secure Login beginning to use FSUSN in place of SSN.  FSUID now offers FSUCard/FSUSN as a possible authentication method.
