Metadirectory Technical Status Meeting
https://fsuid.fsu.edu/admin
02/15/2005
- Project
Status
- Gave talk entitled “FSUID/Active Directory
Integration” to Dave Hearn’s WinSysAdm group (http://fsuid.fsu.edu/admin/release/fsuid-press-releases.html).
- Received information on upcoming CARS PL/SQL
call (see http://fsuid.fsu.edu/admin/project-history/02-01-2005.2.html)
- Now populating existing eDir attribute
“businessCategory” to store employee class from PeopleSoft (http://fsuid.fsu.edu/admin/project-history/02-02-2005.html).
- Upgraded eDir software on all five production
eDir and the one dev eDir to latest security & stability patches –
waiting for next “ndsd” core dump!
- ERP enabled then disabled BusObj LDAP
authentication to eDir (outstanding issue regarding SSL blades on ERP’s
routers to still be worked and CA’d cert installed on
prodboserv.fsu.edu).
- Added & populating fsuEduStudentStatus (http://fsuid.fsu.edu/admin/project-history/02-09-2005.html);
intent is to use in LDAP filters as “employeeStatus” is used.
- Numerous fixes made to the FSUID helpdesk and
personal pages (http://fsuid.fsu.edu/admin/project-history/02-10-2005.2.html).
- Added & populating new attributes to
“untangle” the naming problem (case & suffix issues – see http://fsuid.fsu.edu/admin/project-history/02-14-2005.html). Will use these to provide cleaner
names to CHS via the daily update script.
- Met with UCS TEC staff (http://tecs.fsu.edu/) and discussed
starting a project to help manage their Win AD Domain Controller and
classroom logins via FSUIDs.
- Have made some progress experimenting with
getting FSUID information into a native Blackboard module; “Bb as Portal” meeting this Friday at
1 PM in UCC6109.
- A second meeting was held to plan what can be done
with eDir and the BlueSocket boxes.
- Set up new “directory.fsu.edu” box (to become
the new “ldap.fsu.edu” and public search box); experimenting with
comparing eDir“filtered replicas” versus an iPlanet instance fed with
LDIFs.
- Action
Items
- Get LDAP authentication working under AIX 5.2
(either natively using secldapclntd or using open source packages) – Sean
Patronis has this as an action item now.
- Continuing to provide CARS user functions in
FSUID –Waiting on a “CARS API” via
an SSH tunnel and Oracle PL/SQL calls for CARS account management.
- [Group – longer term] Continue
working SSN à FSUSN replacement discussions with campus. Pushing in IS out to customers to
start using FSUSN which is now populated in USER_ACCOUNT. Secure
Login beginning to use FSUSN in place of SSN. FSUID now offers FSUCard/FSUSN as a possible authentication
method.
