CARS Spinners Progress
The spinners (perl scripts that grab transactions from oracle 'doit_queue' and process them for @fsu.edu ldap and blackboard and send them to mailer/garnet for processing) are now located on mdsdata.uc.fsu.edu in the /root/carsSpinners directory.
Connections to mailer are done completely with ssh/scp now. rcp is gone. However, connections to gfs1 are using ssh and rcp, because it complains about using scp1. I'm okay with it continuing to run with rcp for the rest of it's short existence (until G-day). :)
And cars is started with 'service cars start/stop' just like any other linux service.
The actual processes stayed up all night, but I'm not positive that they were still pulling info from Oracle. They were fine at 5pm when I left them and they were still working at 8:30pm when I fixed the ssh/rsh to garnet/mailer. But this morning there weren't working because there were undone from 8:45pm. *sigh* (which is suspiciously when I logged out). So, I'm not positive this is solved yet. I guess I should see if it stays up for the rest of the day before calling victory.
